Senator Jim Buck currently serves in the Indiana Senate representing Senate District 21 which includes parts of Boone, Hamilton, Howard and Tipton Counties. Buck was elected to the Senate in 2008 after serving in the Indiana House of Representatives between 1994 and 2008.

Buck currently serves as the ranking member on the Senate Energy and Environment Affairs Committee. He also serves on the Pension and Labor, Education and Tax and Fiscal Policy Committees. While serving in the House, Buck chaired the Government Regulatory Reform Committee, served on Roads and Transportation, Small Business and Economic Development Committees as well as the Insurance and Small Business Committee. He also served as the Assistant Caucus Chairman.

Buck is the Indiana State Co-Chair for the American Legislative Exchange Council and is Chairman of their Tax and Fiscal Policy Task Force. ALEC is a national legislative organization from all 50 states. Buck was recognized as national Legislator of the Year by the American Legislative Exchange Council in 2009.


Senator Buck has also received the Champion of Small Business award presented by the Indiana State Chamber of Commerce, is an endowment member of the National Rifle Association, a member of Kokomo Rotary, Masonic Lodge 93, and Bible Baptist Church. Senator Buck has served as a Precinct Committeeman for most of his adult life and has served many times as a delegate to the Republican State Convention.

Buck is Vice President of WWKI’s We Care, a local charity. Buck received his Masters Degree in Business Administration and his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University. He received his Journeyman Tool and Die Mold Maker Classification from Delco Electronics. He also holds an Indiana Real Estate Broker’s License.

Senator Buck is married to Judy Buck; they have 5 daughters.
